Black Rebel Motorcycle Club have unveiled the first single from upcoming album Specter At the Feast, which is set for release in March.

Premiering on US radio station KROQ yesterday, ‘Let The Day Begin’ is a cover of a song by Californian rock group The Call, taken from their 1989 album of the same name. The track holds particular relevance to bassist Robert Been, whose father Michael was the lead singer of The Call. In 2010 he passed away backstage from a heart attack while working as a sound engineer for BRMC.

Specter the Feast is the band’s seventh studio album, their first since the death of Been’s father. Been has thanked fans for their patience, stating that the new record “has taken every last ounce of us to bring to life, and if it wasn’t for you guys keeping us going, we don’t know if it would’ve ever seen the light of day. It’s taken us a long while getting back on our feet, but the time has come”.

Their last visit to Australia came as a part of the 2010 Splendour in the Grass festival, where they also played a string of headline shows across the country. It was only a month later at the Belgian Pukkelpop festival that Been’s father passed away backstage.
