International news round-up:"I will pay Manson what youthink Manson got coming"

Charles Manson writes a letter to Marilyn Manson, LMFAO call it quits, Fiona Apple speaks out on her arrest—all this, and more, in our round-up of the weekend’s international news.

– Incorrigible party-rockers LMFAO are hanging up their oversized glasses. Redfoo (Stefan Gordy) explained that he and Sky Blu (Skyler Gordy) would no longer be making music together, and that he’d like to spend more time coaching tennis and also releasing his own line of tennis clothes. He did mention that he’d continue making music by himself, and a solo career for Sky Blu hasn’t been ruled out. It’s possible this split could result in twice as much party-rocking in the long term, if that’s even conceivable.

– Charles Manson the serial killer has decided to get in touch with Marilyn Manson, the musician named after him. In an open letter written in the kind of handwriting our teachers would have disapproved of, Charles Manson writes, “I will pay Manson what you think Manson got coming – the music has make Manson into Abraxas Devil + I’m SURE you would want some of what I got from what I got. IT’S A FAR OUT BALANCE.” It continues in an unsettling tone and if you can make any sense out of, you should probably be worried.

– Green Day frontman Billie Joe Armstrong wasn’t the only musician delivering a passionate rant to the audience this week. Fiona Apple, who had been arrested for possession of hash on crossing the border into Texas, told her audience a couple of nights later that she’d taken notes while under arrest and that four people involved might be in a lot of trouble if those notes – which are apparently in a lockbox and in code – are released. Watch below.

– Actor James Franco has formed a band named Daddy who specialise in nostalgic, summery Motown-pop although they also feature a fair bit of spoken word storytelling in case you forget that James Franco has a poetry degree. They’re releasing an EP called MotorCity on September 25. (Is it just us or would “James Franco Has a Poetry Degree” be an excellent name for a band?)

– Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails fame – who is also, lest we forget, an Oscar-winning composer for his work on the score of The Social Network – also has a side project called How To Destroy Angels. This band, formed with his wife Mariqueen Maandig and composing buddy Atticus Rose, have announced they’ll be releasing their second EP, called An Omen, on November 13, in advance of their debut album in 2013. It’s been a long time coming – their first EP was released in 2010.

How to destroy angels are the band responsible for the cover of LZ's 'Immigrant song', from the 'Girl with the Dragon Tattoo' remake.....must say I liked the original a lot better, but a good effort all the same

It isn't. They only did the one song for the soundtrack, a Bryan Ferry cover.
