New Bloc Party album this year

In some welcome news Bloc Party confirmed yesterday that they will definitely be releasing a new album in 2012, with lead singer Kele Okereke telling Radio 1’s Zane Lowe that: “’It feels like the record that we’re making doesn’t sound like anyone else on the planet – that’s a really good feeling.”

The news comes only months after Okereke jokingly told the NME that he had been fired from the band, inciting speculative Bloc Party break-up stories the world over.

The new record will be the first since 2008’s Intimacy which was received to mixed reviews and about which FL wrote: “The album is more erratic in theme than A Weekend In the City, one moment mourning a death and the next breaking up or falling in love.”

Far too keen for this album. Cannot wait to see them live again as well!

Who would've thought a band could release an album just months after making a joke eh?

I can imagine a dubstep remix of Banquet.

I hope you all have some lovely nightmares.

Silent Alarm is always the best way to start

I'm looking forward to it. Music-wise, 2012 just seems more and more promising every day. That is, unless berlinchair turns out to be right. :D
