Metallica and Megadeth to forma supergroup?

Megadeth frontman Dave Mustaine is trying to set up a supergroup/almost reform the original lineup of Metallica.

Mustaine – who was kicked out of Metallica in 1983 but has recently rekindled his friendship with the band and toured with Megadeth as part of the Big Four with Metallica, Slayer and Anthrax – told Texas radio station The Eagle Rocks about his plans. “I’ve talked to Lars [Ulrich] and James Hetfield] about me and [Megadeth bassist] David Ellefson doing a supergroup record with Lars and James,” he explained, “James never said ‘no,’ [so] it’s still kind of out there in the air. I’m gonna keep hammering on him. It’s on my bucket list.”

Come to think of it why have a Big Four when we could just merge them all together?

In other Megadeth news the band has just released 25th anniversary edition of Peace Sells… But Who’s Buying? and will release their thirteenth album Th1rt3en in November. The new album is the first Megadeth record since the return of bassist Dave Ellefson, who was part of the band’s classic lineup between 1983 to 2002.

So... the supergroup is just original Metallica?

If it happens, it's another sign of the coming apocalypse i reckon.

Are you saying that the four horsemen of the apocalypse and the big four of metal are actually the same?

Not sure how Lars is going to fit his kit on the back of a horse though.

well they can hardly exhume Cliff Burton's body to form the original group (although he'd probably still shred the bass) so dave ellefson, original megadeth bassplayer, will have to do...

now they just have to get back on the hammer and hard liquor to write some cutting edge music of old

i await with interest but no expectations

Someone just needs to put a big clock next to Hetfield when he's writing songs with a sign saying 'If this song is going for more than 5 minutes it's time to exercise strict quality control.'

It would also be the most metal thing they could ever do.

Don't you think James Hetfield sucks enough as it is?

What in the hell would make Mustaine think that reuniting with a band that hasn't produced anything worthy of note in the last fifteen years is a good idea?

Hating Metallica is the new black, so much anger, I think they're saints. Death Magnetic wasn't that bad of an album even though who ever mastered it must have been deaf.

I have a stiffy for Mustaine, think the guy is arguably the best song writer in the metal genre.

I think we need to remember that Dave Mustaine was removed from leader of Metallica because he supported a carbon tax.

12 or so Albums and one is semi bad. I still liked it. I liked Invisible kid. It wasn't there best. Still the disregard for them being formidable artists is atrocious here.
