Huge line-up for Reading/Leeds
Mon 30th Mar, 2009 in Local News
England’s favourite simultaneous festivals return this August with a GFC-defying bill. Held on dual sites over the bank holiday weekend, Reading and Leeds are traditionally graced by the most bombastic bands in the business.
2009 it seems will be no different. In an increasingly rare coup, Radiohead is set to headline the Sunday at Reading. Top billing on the other nights go to recent Australian visitors Kings Of Leon and Arctic Monkeys.
Elsewhere throughout the weekend there’s the usual battalion of festival sure-things: Kaiser Chiefs, Placebo, The Prodigy, Bloc Party and Yeah Yeah Yeahs among them. Sunday at Reading is traditionally reserved for the harder-hitting names (past years have championed Iron Maiden, Nine Inch Nails and Metallica ), but this time round the mood will be mellower with Thom and co. bringing it home.
