Everclear do Guantanamo

I was actually thinking about Everclear the other day. Are you the other person who bought both volumes of Songs From An American Movie? That was eight years ago, but the Portland detox-rockers haven’t Sparkle and Fade-d away – in fact, they’re set to play a show at the US Naval Base in Guantanamo Bay, Cuba.

The gig is scheduled for America’s Memorial Day weekend, slotting neatly into Everclear’s national tour. They’ll also get the troops a-whooping at the Marine Corps base at Kaneohe Bay, Oahu. “These two [dates] are important to the band,” singer Art Alexakis told media. “There are folks in uniform all over the world, and at home, looking out for us – and to play for them is an honour.”

There you have it. Everclear: still alive.
