We all know Queens Of The Stone Age have a scorching live show, but their incendiary stage presence was taken to its literal extreme at a show in Hobart on Friday 4 April. Thousands of fans were evacuated after a stage light overheated, spewing smoke throughout the venue.
The Hobart City Hall was successfully emptied mere minutes before the band was due on-stage. “The evacuation of the packed-out venue was achieved with minimal effort that was made a lot easier by the cooperation of the patrons and abundance of emergency exit doors in the hall,” the Tasmania Fire Service told media.
After that dramatic interlude, QOTSA rocked the venue as planned. No doubt Josh Homme had a few puns to work with for the rest of the night…
