“How many dudes you know flow like this?” – when a young New Zealand rapper called SCRIBE first stood up 5 years ago and asked that question in his smash hit Not Many, he began his quest to bring an exciting new flavour to the international hip-hop scene.

Malo Luafutu, a shy Samoan kid from Christchurch, bursted onto the local music scene as SCRIBE with his album The Crusader. A ferocious presence onstage, spitting his hard-hitting, hook-laden rhymes, he proved irresistible to all corners of the hip-hop community and all of a sudden New Zealand hip-hop blew up on the radio and the charts.

Five years ago, Scribe asked “How many dudes you know flow like this?” and it was a brash statement from a talented unknown rapper.
Now it’s the world’s turn to answer with the very next line in the song – “not many, if any” – and really mean it, as this Samoan kid from Christchurch continues his irresistible rise to fame.
