Description:
In 1995, out of the ashes of Sydney’s Bondi funk and Newtown punk scene the Hoax was formed. Kiall Carpenter on harmonica and vocals, Dirk Kruithof on guitar & banjo, Dale Harrison on bass and Ben Eadie on drums.
Together they forged a sound which became a seminal force in Sydney’s underground scene and would go on to influence many other musicians and bands. By fusing hip hop with country, punk with rockabilly, swamp-blues with grunge, and other diverse parings, the Hoax bought onto the Sydney music scene a new and vibrant sound and expelled it with an uber energy live show.
It was their unique sound and highly charged performances that saw them rising to the top of Sydney’s alternative scene up until the bands break up in 2002.
Now, after numerous requests from persistent Hoax fans the Hoax have decided to reunite and are returning to the stage for a one off event at the Sandringham Hotel, Newtown, April 9th. The Hoax will be joined by the high-energy antics of Jack Nasty Face
