Southbound is back bigger and better than ever this summer, with a host of national and international stars set to turn out for the biggest party in the southwest.
Headlining the event this year are Kings of Leon, who will bring the sounds of new album Because of the Times to the gig, which takes place in Busselton on January 4 and 5. Right next to them are Black Rebel Motorcycle Club, who will bring their Jesus and Mary Chain-meets-Johnny Cash formula to WA for the first time.
Bringing the party vibes are Groove Armada, Girl Talk, Blackalicious and Brighton-based collective The Go! Team, while the laid-back sounds of Lior, The Waifs and Jose Gonzales will suit the festival’s famed vibe perfectly.
Neville Staples from ska legends The Specials, will make the trip out west with his new band, performing classic tracks from all those years ago. Also set to appear are indie gurus Built to Spill, while Gotye, Midnight Juggernauts, The Mess Hall, Angus & Julia Stone and The Beautiful Girls make sure there’s a healthy amount of Australian talent on offer too.
Punters on the festival campsite will again have the chance to see some one-off performances under the big top on the Friday night, and this year it’s The Waifs, The Beautiful Girls, Lior and Angus & Julia Stone who will open their account early.
Festival tickets are $107+bf, with the option of paying an extra green fee to help stamp out your carbon footprint. Camping for the two nights (including Friday night entertainment) will set you back an extra $68.
