The close of venues like The Bakery, Spectrum and the Hyde Park Hotel has left Perth wanting an accessible low-cost performance space. If a band can’t, or isn’t interested in attracting an audience of hundreds it is near impossible to hire a music venue or bar. However – difficult circumstances give rise to interesting solutions…
Dream Rehearsal Studios is a space that most Perth musicians will be familiar with. It consists of three rooms, each littered with speakers, ripped couches and hilariously vulgar graffiti. There is also a central courtyard and bathroom facilities.
Be at the first Dream show on Saturday 17 April and experience new kraut project Mayer Dadi, Attenborough worshipping improvisation duo Wigwam, garage punk geeks Taco Leg, experimental thrash duo Frozen Ocean and home-made, vege to vegan spicy curry lentil burgers with cooling raita, tomato, rocket and spinach leaves.
