Xanadu dreams come true for Perth Roller Derby
Remember Xanadu? That cheesy 80s flick with Olivia Newton-John? Yes – the one with skates! Perth Roller Derby is bringing it back to the people with a Xanadu themed roller disco on Saturday July 4 to raise much needed funds for their upcoming bout in August.
Step back in time, with local bands Toms Ford and Brash and Sassy playing all the classic Xanadu hits, discotastic to cringe worthy, at Morley Rollerdrome. It promises to be a night to remember with two of Perth’s best dance music artists and Ford fresh from
the WAMi awards and his EP launch.
The event is a fundraiser to get the 2009 bouting season off the ground, with roller derby darlings treating the crowd to a punishing derby training game of Blood and Thunder – a sneak peak at the athleticism and violence of roller derby athletes.
Grab some spandex and sequins and head on down to Xanadu night. The event kicks off at 9.30pm, Morley Rollerdrome, Catherine St, Morley.
Tickets are $10 on the door including skate hire (blade hire $2 extra).
This is a 15+, alcohol and drug-free event.
