Footscray I'm in Love
- The Footscray Exchange Hotel
Inhibitions are gone as soon as you step through the front door of Footscray’s Exchange Hotel. The generous serve of cheesy 60’s, 70’s, 80’s and 90’s tunes fill your immediate surroundings. The sport and music video clips on the television sets give way to Australian television commercials from the 1970’s and 1980’s, five dollars gets you a drink with change, and punters seem more focussed on a boogie rather than looking chic at the bar or obsessed by their hair and designer label apparel.
Gone is the stereotypical retro night formula. Never mind the songs that you won’t hear – you WILL hear obscure cover songs, Australian rock , French pop hits just to name a few. Even TISM and Nana Mouskouri get a run at the most unexpected moment. Not to forget, all set lists come with a generous serving of cheese.
By the time the music finishes you’ve been there for hours, everyone knows your name and you’re already making plans to catch up with your new acquaintances next Friday!
