Description:
Formed in the U.K around 1991, CORNERSHOP are best know for the massive 1998 crossover hit Brimful Of Asha, a fantastic slice of 90s alterna-pop that garnered huge mainstream attention – including a UK #1 – courtesy of a remix by flavour of the moment DJ, Fatboy Slim. The album from whence it came, I Was Born for the Seventh Time provided further goodies in the form of second single Sleep on the Left Side and a Yoko Ono approved cover of the Beatles Norwegian Wood. US rock bible, Rolling Stone were even moved to describe ’...Seventh Time’ as one of the essential recordings of the 1990’s.
Handcream for a Generation upped the ante in 2002 and included further radio faves Lessons Learned from Rocky 1 to Rocky 111 and People Power (in the Disco Hour) before a seven year hiatus took CORNERSHOP off the map. By 2009, though, CORNERSHOP were back with both a new album (Judy Sucks a Lemon) and a renewed sense of purpose.
