Description:
Indie popsters Spearmint Fur get set to launch their debut album Immune and the video for their first single Maybe on Saturday March 27th at Revellers Bar North (formerly Laundry).
Dreamy, atmospheric, grindy, dissonant, are all words that have been used to describe the music of Spearmint Fur which features smooth melodic vocals over melancholy, spacey and sometimes crashing guitars.
Spearmint Fur is singer songwriter Zadia Lenders, a multi instrumentalist who has been writing songs for many moons and has been described as an inter-continental gypsy due to all her global wanderings. The name Spearmint Fur was inspired by an episode of the Canadian TV series Corner Gas. She is now joined by her band mates Pete Shaw, Colin Shean and Rick Stubbins
Reviews:
"Giving heavy nods to the distinctive musings of (vintage) Lush, the Pixies and Drugstore, Zadia Lenders explores even more extreme contrasts."- Exclaim
"Sparkly, spooky and melodic. Catchy hooks and sweet dreamy vocals mesh perfectly with grindy and dissonant bits" – Eye Magazine
"..expert at blending unusual time signatures and multiple harmonies with textures culled from a thick inventory of influences." – CMJ
"At times her songs recall the Cocteau Twins and The Sundays." – The Big Issue Scotland
"So how about Spearmint Fur’s ‘Immune’? Turns out it is actually rather brilliant doom pop. There’s a very 1980’s melancholy undertone to several songs and when combined with the ethereal elements it makes for a very rainy day/cup of tea sort of L.P., and we mean that in the best possible way. This is a seriously impressive debut. Let’s hope it finds an audience." – Mark Gambino’s online review
