Sparkadia

On the eve of the May 31 release of their debut album – and current Triple J Album of The Week – ‘Postcards’, Sydney pop wunderkinds Sparkadia announce a short run of dates to celebrate.

Featuring the singles ‘Too Much To Do’, ‘Morning Light’ and ‘Animals’, ‘Postcards’ is quite possibly the most replete and accomplished debut you’ll hear this year. The album offers up a dozen snapshots of life that meld bittersweet lyrics and floating melodies with a sunny spin on heartbreak, and it’s no wonder that it’s already being hailed by some critics as one of the year’s best records.

It’s been a whirlwind 12 months for Sparkadia. In the last year they have recorded in London with Ben Hiller (Blur, Elbow, Doves), toured Europe and the UK twice (with Jimmy Eat World, The Thrills and Vampire Weekend), and are now preparing for a UK festival season assault. They’re already confirmed for Glastonbury, Wireless, Oxygen, V Festival and Frequency, with ‘Postcards’ set for release in the UK and Europe on July 14.

Before all that though, Sydney, Brisbane, Adelaide, and Melbourne get the chance to experience the sublime pop yearnings of Sparkadia live. Perth’s Dirty Secrets will be along for the ride on all dates, and tickets will go on sale Thursday May 22 – don’t miss it!
