Renowned for his efforts as front man of cult noisy pop band Screamfeeder, Tim Steward has been honing his song writing skills over the last fifteen plus years and it is with great excitement that we introduce you to the Tim Steward Band who will perform a series of shows in Melbourne and Sydney during May and June.
Tim released his debut solo album ‘How Does It End’ in 2006 to critical acclaim. The album resulted in Tim being a finalist in the Australian Music Prize 2007, and winning two awards [Best Alternative Song and Song Of The Year] for his track ‘Not The Same’ in the 2007 Q SONG Award.
Tim Steward and band are polished, tight, energetic and entertain with an eclectic set that takes you from indie rock to ballad to alt-country territory. Tim put together a five piece band to perform the album live and since the formation of the band a new album’s worth of new material has been written. They recently ventured into the studio to work with producer/engineer Darek Mudge from Intercooler to record their first EP, which will see release mid-year.
Members of the Tim Steward Band swap instruments frequently on stage, which makes for a visually – as well as aurally – exciting live show. Audience reactions have been amazing of late, one punter describing the band’s recent BigSound showcase gig at Brisbane’s Press Club as “best gig of the week!” Critics alike are tuned in and turned on to the new sounds offered by this exemplary musician and his new found mates.“New song ‘Trigger Fingers’ was a stand out, with a melodic intro that builds to a crescendo of (greatly missed) Brisbane indie-pop excellence. It would be surprising to never hear it on the radio. Steward’s band is a perfect fit for his solo efforts, the harmonies, and counterpoints to his signature voice and guitar riffs melding effortlessly. Wrapping up the set with ‘Back to the Car’, the crowd stands to convey its warm appreciation for the locals.” Faster louder Feb 200
