The Cure are returning to rock Australia’s shores this August, armed to shock crowds with over 30 years of hit music in Sydney, Perth, Brisbane, Melbourne and Adelaide. The Cure are known for their domination of eccentric concerts, combining their sinisiter sounds with stunning stage design and visual effects.
With Jason Cooper on the drums, Robert Smith on vocals and guitar, Porl Thompson on guitar and Simon Gallup on the bass, the English band left audiences agast after the huge success of their international Dream Tour in 2000, that totalled more than one million fans in just nine months.
The wild band’s discography dates back to 1979 with the release of their first album Three Imaginary Boys. From there, The Cure launched into stardom, with successful singles Boys Don’t Cry, A Forest, Primary, The Hanging Garden, Let’s Go to Bed, The Lovecats, The Caterpillar, Inbetween Days, Close to Me, and Friday I’m In Love. The Cure’s highly anticipated 13th studio release album is set to hit stores in late 2007.
The Cure will perform at Japan’s Fuji Festival in July and then to Hong Kong and Singapore before returning to Oz in August. North American concerts follow, including their appearance at San Francisco’s Download Festival.
