The whispers have been circulating for what seems like months. Silverchair and Powderfinger are joining forces for a massive tour of Australia playing to not only metropolitan audiences, but also those in Australia’s regional areas. The two bands will be criss crossing the nation, climbing over the Great Dividing Range many times on the Across the Great Divide tour.
The tour takes in many regional centres that will not have seen a tour of this magnitude in years, the last time being when Midnight Oil and INXS joined forces to tour this great land. The bands will play major arenas in each city, in those cities without an arena a specially designed tent with be erected to hold the crowd.
It is a tour with a difference, or at least trying to make one, as they have only one major presents partner, reconcile.org.au. Instead of bringing legions of corporate sponsors on board, both Silverchair and Powderfinger have decided the support a charity that seeks to increase the life expectancy of Indigenous Australians and draws attention to their plight.
Tickets go on sale from 9am on July 9, with a limit of six tickets per transaction
