New Buffalo aka Sally Seltmann will hit the traps with Laura Jean in April to celebrate the release of her new album Somewhere, Anywhere due in stores this week
It’s two years since New Buffalo released the critcially aclalimed debut The Last Beautiful Day, and follow up effort Somewhere Anywhere is set to be another crowd pleaser.
Speaking of release, Seltmann offered the following comment: “I see the album as embracing the concept of opposite experiences, and contrasting moods: the innocent, naive and colourful, versus the dark, intimate and secret-like. The yin and yang in life. The highs and lows. The ego and the shadow. The masculine and feminine.”
Sally has hooked up with a few famous friends to collaborate on her sophomore effort including hubbie Darren Seltmann (The Avalanches), who sings on Stay With Us [which he co-wrote] and drums on It’s True; Kellie Sutherland (Architecture in Helsinki) who provides backing vocals on Misery and Mountains, Arrows and Bows; Dale Packard [Ground Components] who plays saxophone on Emotional Champ, clarinet on Misery and Mountains, Arrows and Bows and clarinet and flute on It’s Got To Be Jean; and John Lee (Mountains in the Sky), who plays additional synth on It’s True.
New Buffalo will embark on a national tour to launch her album. Joining her for all West Australian dates will be Institut Polaire. Coming along for the ride for the Eastern states will be the lovely Laura Jean.
