If they headlined the mainstage and played 30 songs, they will have to turn it in to a camping festival, metro certainly would not put on any later trains

They could start their set fairly early if they want to play 30 songs?

They could probably do it without dumping any bands. Unless it takes an hour to set up The Cure's stage, they don't need the hour gap between the last two bands on the main stage (unless another band doesn't want anyone playing at the same time as them), so that could be a little more time. Maybe start the main stage at 11 and drop 5 or ten minutes off a few smaller bands sets. Wouldn't be likely, but if they wanted to it could be done.

As much as I like The Cure (and have seen them play a three hour set), getting any band to play a 3 hour set at a festival sounds like a terrible idea.

Yeah the over 3 hour Reflections show they did last year was awesome.
I don't think they need to do the same thing at a festival.
They could just do a 1-1.5 hour festival set and save the mammoth shows for their sideys.
May Kraftwerk: 1-4
July (Europe) ROCK WERCHTER, Pet Shop Boys, Atoms For Peace, Scott Matthew, Depeche Mode
August Joan Baez
September Cyndi Lauper
October Melbourne Festival ?
November Harvest Festival ?

I didn't see the Reflections tour. I saw them on their previous tour when they did a 3 hour set at the Entertainment Centre.

That show was great too, both those shows were really different for me as I saw The 4.13 Tour at an entertainment centre and Reflections was at The Opera House.
I think I enjoyed Reflections more for the venue and the full album sets though.
They might be the only band I can sit and watch for 3 hours plus and not get bored.

I still can't believe I didn't see The Cure on the 4:13 Dream tour. I remember being gutted that I couldn't go, but I can't actually remember why I couldn't.

In conclusion, they should book The Cure!

That was when I saw em too. A sort of greatest hits collection. Edge Of The Deep Green sea was phenominal and so was every other song they played.

Tame Impala, who are playing Splendour - I doubt that. Mazzy Star would be good, I really liked Hope Sandoval
at Coachella.

Just listened to DCD for the first time, being blazed would be the most appropriate state of mind to be in for their set IMO.

I'm going to take her twitter handle also being a name of a band that could totally be playing and are small enough to do east coast sideshows as a clue.

Unless they have a new album in the works (I haven't seen/heard anything), I couldn't really see them coming back again so soon after their East Coast tour earlier this month.

Dead Can Dance?
Wow, I could see them playing the Mogwai (blissed-out-as-the-sun-sets) spot.
But damn I will have to go to Adelaide for sure to see their side show as well!

Unless AJ is allowing Melbourne/Sydney sideys this time, did any artist play sideys last year that
weren't in Adelaide or Perth?

A lot of the biggest acts didn't play sideshows in Sydney though (Eg. Portishead, The National, Flaming Lips, Mogwai).

Why don't we get any sideshows ever!

And rightly so - it's so hard to find a reliable cocaine dealer there.
