lesser known acts rarely end up on youtube afterwards so finding them can be a chore. there's a very slight chance of an encore show but don't hold your breath over that. your best chance is to either wake up or find a torrent that is a recording of the full day.

So I few days back in the BDO Prediction thread we were having a discussion as to the biggest music fest in the world. Well, brazil just won it with Rock In Rio. 1.5 Million people in a specially built "City of Rock" (no joke). Headliners include Elton John, Coldplay and Metallica. Live now on YouTube.

is that 1.5 million people in total across the 6 or 7 days it runs for, so around 250 000 on each day? or 1.5 million on each day? i find the latter a little more believable. regardless it is the biggest festival in the world purely in terms of attendance. but you take into account several other factors such as the frequency of the event (this is the first Rock in Rio in Rio since 2001), the number of stages and acts on the line up, the number of people they have on site at one time and the prominence of the festival. it's hard to get past Glastonbury with over 140 000 people literally living on site for 5 days, 1000 acts (including dozens of big names) across 80 stages and capturing the attention of the entire music world.

Metallica just started. if anything, this should be worth watching just for the 200 000 maniacal south americans in the crowd.

I saw Metallica in Brazil about a year ago. I can't claim to remember much because I was pissed off my face and passed out before the encore but it seemed okay.

if anyone wants to see the show that seems to never come to Australia: Arcade Fire at the Bridge School Benefit will be starting in about 15 minutes.

Like radiohead before them, the chances of arcade fire touring again are slim

Add a few more to the poster above ... Spoon, Black Lips and Cannibal Corpse.

More direct link to stream: http://fff.pitchfork.com/

Only a few hours before I take the short 5 minute stroll from where I live to Fun Fun Fun. Last year's was beyond awesome, couldn't imagine a better festival. And only $110 for a 3-day pass and late night shows at bars in town.

One of the food vendors setting up:

Some nice video recaps from FFF below. Too much from the hip-hop/dance stage and not enough Slayer, but still nice footage.

I saw the following:
FRI: Yacht / The Thermals / Black Joe Lewis / Okkervil River / Clap Your Hands Say Yeah / Murder City Devils / Danzig / Public Enemy // Dead Confederate
SAT: Tune-Yards / Ra Ra Riot / M83 / Girls / Hot Snakes / Lyyke Li / Spoon // The Felice Brothers / Budos Band
SUN: Mates of State / Zero Boys / Ted Leo and Pharmacists / Architecture in Helsinki / Hum / Boris / Black Lips / Slayer // Total Control / Thee Oh Sees

Slayer dominated. Other highlights were Hot Snakes, Hum, Boris, Black Lips, Ted Leo, Budos Band, Public Enemy, too many. Still the best festival around.

Active Child
ASAP Rocky
AVICII
Band of Skulls
Battles
Bassnectar
Beirut
Boom Bip
Bon Iver
Childish Gambino
Das Racist
Digitalism
Donavon Frankenreiter
Feist
Four Tet
Justice
Kasabian
Keep Shelly in Athens
Kings of Convenience
LMFAO
M83
My Morning Jacket
Neon Indian
Noel Gallagher's High Flying Birds
Pulp
The Civil Wars
The Rapture
The Shins
St Vincent
Swedish House Mafia
The Head and the Heart
The Naked And Famous
Wild Flag

That's strange seeing as this years headliners were "new age headliners" for lack of a better word.. I reckon they might get Blur if Damon isn't off doing something else.

Blur was an early rumour but last I saw Damon was in between being in Africa recording another concept album and playing intimate Good, Bad and The Queen shows so I guess that might count him out but he's unpredictable so who knows.

First headliner for Isle of Wright 2012 has been announced: Bruce Springsteen. Here are the rest of his Euro dates.

I think summer 2012/13 is the best chance of an Aus/NZ (sup Cr1zZ) tour from the guy.

Even though that line up is retarded as shit would attend it.

Also if outkast.really do have a new album coming out I wouldn't be surprised to see them as the 3rd headliner.

Flights booked for Europe next year.

4 acts confirmed at shit I'm attending so far: The Boss (Isle of Wight), Radiohead (Berlin), RHCP and Justice (Werchter).

Not really fussed on the last two, but looking the goods so far.

Isle of Wight, Werchter, Exit and Sziget is the current plan, with a whole bunch of random travelling in between. Pussied out on staying on for Outlook and Bestival.
