V Festival 2010 Cancelled
according to page 9 of today's the age newspaper in victoria, there will be no v festival in 2010.

the article reads:
the v festival, which, for the past three years has attracted strong line-ups of international acts, has been shelved by promoters michael coppel presents and virgin mobile.

the partners faced stiff competition from events such as the big day out, good vibrations, laneway, golden plains and future music.

proof:



pretty gutted.

can a contributor put this on the front page? it's pretty big news. so pissed off with them, as if they have thrown away one of the best organised festivals of the calendar.

this doesn't surprise me at all. the gc show was a fucking disaster last year, changed all the set times last minute so missed half the acts i wanted to see, not even half full capacity, had to have the last 3 acts playing against none other so they would look like they had a crowd. there's just too much clutter in the market!

yeah the set times were really annoying - there were a lot of good bands clashing. i kind of hoped for a good lineup this year considering there are so many bands left off a lot of announcements so far.

this is extremely disappointing news. missed out on last year because of a friends wedding, but the previous year was one of the best run festivals i have ever been to. And the lineups before last year had been absolutely fantastic. Fuck you Coppel. Everything you touch turns to shit.

The last two gold coast v festivals have been amazing, and thats even with all the mud and possible sewage in 2008! Shame if its true

Is it that much bigger than Parklife? I've never been to Good Vibes but I would have thought the capacity couldn't be that much greater than Parklife, at least in Sydney.

I think buying power for acts (James Brown, Beastie Boys, Kanye) + its the only festival that's sold out every year so far.
