Ummmm, Face to Face MOTHERFUCKER.

Seriously, that was one of the best moments of my life and now it's one that makes me feel older than average at the same time. I can't believe how few people actually appreciated their appearance. You're all mental.

Oh and Anxious, I'm with Dex, Rise Against are rubbish live. The kind of band where if you took along a playlist of your favourite songs on your mp3 player and listened to that while they were on stage you'd walk away much happier.

Face To Face were probably one of the only punk bands I was interested in last year, but they were on at the same time a NIN, and NIN easily won that decision.

Each to their own. There was nothing on earth that would have stopped be from being front and centre at Face to Face. With Roger Mangenelli on bass I was a coke bottle bong away from being 14 again, yep it was awesome.

dont get me wrong but MAB, if AFI get announced i will be fucking hyped to see them because they are my favourite band, i'd just much rather see them on their own tour with their own show rather than play an hour set at soundwave and have to cut out several sing the sorrow and older songs.
i really dont expect them to be on the lineup, i think they're exactly the type of band SW would want, but with a new album to launch and having to tour europe after the american tour with gallows, im expecting their own tour round march-ish.

Surely there's no better way to promote an album than to play a festival full of potential fans as opposed to playing to a room full of people that would've bought the album already.

I am going to assume you're from QLD here, Were you at the convention centre when they toured DecemberUnderground? There will be no old songs. With Days of the Phoenix excluded, Davey Havok is far too old to pouring out Very Proud of Ya, Answer That and Stay Fashionable, Art of Drowning, Black Sails etc etc. I love Sing the Sorrow, and believe it the peak of their career, but if that's what you're waiting for then you're not really the biggest AFI fan.

When i say 'older' songs im referring to things that they have played on the DU tour, because they'll always play 'days of the phoenix', 'totalimmortal' and 'god called in sick today' (off black sails in the sunset) im more referring to songs like 'a single second' and 'morningstar' and ive even seen setlists with '6 to 8' and 'wester' both off art of drowning. although being a fan of both albums, i would never expect to hear songs from very proud of ya or answer that.. it would be stupid to do so.
Sing the Sorrow is my favourite AFI album as i believe it to also be there peak, and i like the fact they play alot of it live, songs like 'bleed black' and 'death of seasons'

It would be stupid to hear a song penned by an artist played live?

Personally I think it's more of a case of Davey Havok being a princess than anything else. If Chris Hannah can still belt out Anti-Manifesto in 2009.............................................. .................................................. .................................................. .........................(notice all the dots?)

Also, all the songs you've mentioned are the most recognisable from earlier albums. Where is the curve ball??

i more think it would be stupid to EXPECT to hear songs from the first two albums live based on how dramatic their change in style/genre has been... i would not think it stupid at all to actually hear these songs, 'brownie bottom sundae' and 'this secret ninja' would be a bit more than awesome.

and whether you think he's a princess or not doesnt really have to much to do with them playing/not playing songs from their earlier albums.

and the whole point i made was that i am of the opinion that if they played a festival set they may drop the few older songs they play to make way for new ones, and because i want to hear these songs i would rather they did their own tour because i think the chance of hearing older songs is greater. i think the reason they still play these songs live is also because they are the most recognisable from their earlier albums.

my whole point is i would rather see them at their own brisbane show, then at brisbane soundwave, because they would have a longer set and their own show/stage set up etc etc

Ok, undo your knickers because I don't disagree with you at all.....

I don't expect them to play anything off older albums, especially after their last tour however it doesn't make a fan want to hear them any less...

Yes, he being a princess actually does have something to do with it but I am going to put this down to the fact we are from different time zones.

But I am going to disagree with you on the festival slot however if Crash Love turns out to be a half decent effort than I am more than happy to eat my hat. I've seen them twice but don't want a DecemberUnderground tour repeat.

ARE WE STILL ARGUING?

WHY?

Perhaps not no chance, just extremely unlikely. According to what I hear their current US tour is just a revenue raising exercise before they start recording their new album.

With a bit of luck we'll see them doing their own tour in late 2010.

Anyway so this is the dealio, I have someone who I normally would trust that is adamant that Blink 182 are co-headliners with Faith No More but I am just not buying it. My main man who has been close to spot on in the past and so far this time around is saying No Doubt, I am shocked to say the least.

So here is the lineup I was emailed last week.

Faith No More
No Doubt
AFI
The Get Up Kids
Enter Shikari
My Chemical Romance
Taking Back Sunday
Alexisonfire
All Time Low
Gallows
Avenged Sevenfold
Killswitch Engage
Paramore
Unwritten Law
Clutch
Hit The Lights
The Rocket Summer
Dance Gavin Dance
A Wilhelm Scream
A Day To Remember
The Devil Wears Prada
Emarosa
Set Your Goals
It Dies Today
You Me at Six
The Creepshow

Sounds about right to me. I hope not though, because aside from Faith No More I think it's a much weaker lineup that last year. Though I'm no fan, No Doubt would be quite a coup for them I'd say.

They were amazing and yes i felt fucking old. the entirety of the crowd was all late 20 to late 30yr olds all smashed goin nuts with any one from the age of about 20 or under going what the fuck is this?? it was amazing because there was enough room to see the set and get gnarly if need be. mind you this was in perth where the population is nil to none. besides that goldfinger? new found glory? less than jake? all good punk bands i was pretty stoked to try and see.

My Chemical romance played EntCent when they were last here.. That basically makes them joint headliner with FNM no?

Assuming the lineup is real of course.

I think the lineup is realistic. FNM and No Doubt are possibly the only two acts big enough that could headline a festival the size of Soundwave.

The rest, while popular in their own right are all about the same popularity as support acts on last years event, MCR being possibly the one that sticks out (to me) as the most popular of the bunch.

Personally I was hoping for a bit more quality in the way of metal acts. Avenged Sevenfold and Killswitch Engage just don't do it for me.

Anyway, as I've already said, if FNM are playing, then I'll be there, except in the unlikely event of a Adelaide sideshow.

That is actually a pretty solid line-up if it is true..

I was not expecting to have any desire to attend this terribly organized festival, but once again, I may be won over by the line-up.

I hope Napoleon is wrong, because that lineup is putting me to sleep just reading it.

There is nothing on the lineup that excites me except FNM and The Get Up Kids.

FNM, Clutch and Alexis is a pretty decent day out. Throw in some Gallows, AFI AX7 and its a solid day.

I think FNM would be better at Soundwave than at BDO. Seems to be less tourists (In Adelaide anyway) and most people that weren't all that into NIN this year went and saw someone else or went home.

I posted the line up on my facebook and couldn't access it for the next couple of hours as everyone lost their shit haha.

GAWD, I have gotten numerous emails and even txt msgs claiming they know the soundwave line up. It has just been cut and pasted directly from what I posted earlier.

Thursday night is when it was meant to be released, most likely short fast report on JJJ.
