Making a Soundwave “spare parts” supergroup
Thanks to an unofficial revolving door policy for most bands on the bill, Soundwave is just as significant for the musicians taking the stage, as the ones left behind. Indeed, for every Robert Trujillo, there’s a Jason Newsted; every Joey Belladonna, a Josh Bush. So what better way to honour their absence than with a fictitious supergroup featuring dual vocalists, strings and a double rhythm section (quadruple-kick FTW). Unfortunately, we couldn’t find a spot for Len’s singer Marc “Steal My Sunshine” Costanzo, who – believe it or not – was a founding guitarist of Canadian skate-punks Sum 41. Oh, and special mention goes to Anthrax, who gave us no less than 18 former members (see above) to cherry-pick from.
Jason Newsted (ex-Metallica, bass)
Nick Oliveri (ex-Kyuss, bass)
Paz Lenchantin (ex-A Perfect Circle, violin)
Adam “Atom” Willard (ex-Offspring, drums)
Zac Farro (ex-Paramore, drums)
Josh Homme (ex-Kyuss, vocals)
Josh Bush (ex-Anthrax, backing vocals)
Dez Cadena (ex-Duff McKagan’s Loaded, rhythm guitar)
Dave Mustaine (ex-Metallica, lead guitar)
Josh Farro (ex-Paramore, rhythm guitar)
