Santigold
WHAT TO EXPECT
“Ever the entertainer, Santigold was full of encouragement for those willing to dance, inviting about 25 extras on stage to help out on Creator, and later, while the band jammed away during a costume change, the stage was led by a two-piece horse dancing away while the backups did their best to lasso the thing.” That’s what FL’s reviewer in Melbourne witnessed when Santi visited us for Parklife last year. Just over a year later she’s back, but this time she has a new album to celebrate.
The gang at Clash saw Santi perform in London a few months back and reported back that “amidst all the choreography and the pantomime horses, it’s the music that stands out more than anything else. Tonight is as much about the songs as it is about the spectacle and Santigold has more than enough good tunes to warrant a great night out. The music world is a better place for her presence.”

SET HIGHLIGHT
We’re sure Santi’s show at Harvest will have plenty of musical highlights including the stage-invasion madness of Creator and new album faves like The Keepers and Disparate Youth, but will any other acts be dancing with a pantomime horse?

Beruit
WHAT TO EXPECT
Zach Condon and his Beirut cohorts visited us earlier this year playing a festival dates and a few sideshows including a date a the Sydney Opera House. FL’s reviewer at the Opera House gig gave us a preview of what to expect at Harvest by reporting that “The range of Beirut’s sound – from intimate to epic – is one of the band’s defining characteristics on record. It was more evident, however, in their live show. Rich brass lines formed musical collages with percussive blasts and walls of sound formed as quickly as they were broken, leaving behind a solo serenading of Condon. The band’s ability to relish in both extremes served as a true testament to the versatility that has made them as lauded as they are amongst their peers.”

We’re looking forward to lying back on the grass at Harvest with a beer in hand as the afternoon sun fades and the drum solos, complex accordion lines and flaring brass crescendos of Nantes wash over a the crowd. Bliss.
