The 90s reunion tours weactually want

This year has seen a full burnt CD worth of 90s bands heading to Australia to tour. The return of Soundgarden was very welcome, but their visit has been a rare sighting of 90s quality on a time-warped tour calendar that has seen the likes of Aqua, Vengaboys, Crazy Town, Limp Bizkit and Coal Chamber all returning to play for surprisingly enthusiastic audiences.

Later in the year we'll see Hanson, Reef, Eiffel 65, N-Trance, Bell Biv DeVoe, Ginuwine and even S Club 7 making their way back and local bands like Def FX have also jumped on the revival wagon. The 80s Rewind festival may have been a colossal disaster, but clearly there's plenty of room for nostalgia if you're a band from the decade of Seinfield, roller blades and the Tibetan Freedom Concert.

So to help out any promoters who are thinking of booking Chumbawamba, Jeremy Jordan, Green Jellÿ or Crash Test Dummies we've compiled our own list of 90s tours that we'd actually be happy to see.

Of course there are stacks of bands in our record collection that make us want to wear hypercolour t-shirts and watch reruns of Beavis and Butt-head and Daria – including (but by no means limited to) Red hot Chili Peppers, Hole, Rancid, Weezer, Green Day, Bjork, Beasties, Beck, Ween, Super Furry Animals, Teenage Fanclub, Saint Etienne, Fiona Apple – but we're talking reunions (and hoped for reunions) here.

The Obvious 90s Tour Wishlist

Hopefully it doesn't really need to be said, but damn we’d really like to see the recently reformed At The Drive-In, Mazzy Star, The Stone Roses, Afghan Whigs, Suede and Refused on our shores soon. And with No Doubt set to drop their first album since 2001 and Garbage back with their first since 2005 we’re expecting tours to follow in the not too distant future.

Swoop would be a reunion tour I would pay to see. Even Gareth Liddiard could learn a thing or two from the lyrics of Apple Eyes.

"If you got an ocean baby I got a boat, and if you got a castle well you know I got the moat it's alright."

just to make that post a bit more relevant to the thread. maybe Pearl Jam could do a show where they rotate through the 5 people who have played drums for them. each drummer performs the song they recorded originally.

Ummm...

The Locals We’d Love to See Again

Sadly Gerling’s Burke Reid recently told Mess+Noise that “It’s more exciting now for all of us, going forward rather than trying to go back.” So the likelihood of seeing Gerling strapping their backpacks on for a reunion seems unlikely for now.

Not exactly of the "that we actually want variety" but more 90s revivals:

Max Sharam is making a comeback with her first album since 1995's 'Million Year Girl' (you don't remember her, but she had eight nominations at the ARIA Music Awards in '95)

The new CD will take the form of a concept album exploring a gloomy period when Sharam was in the United States.

She described the album as taking on a "dark fairytale" theme.
