Hyro Da Hero's Playlist
Mon 6th Feb, 2012 in Features
LA based rapper Hyro Da Hero is causing waves in the Cali hip-hop scenes. Australians will have the chance to see what the hype is all about when he hits our shores for Soundwave Festival later this month.
Before he arrives he tells FL about about the albums that shaped his life.
FIRST ALBUM YOU BOUGHT
First Album i bought was Kriss Kross Totally Krossed Out. It was a must. When I heard the single “Jump” it flipped my young mind. I had my clothes and baseball shirt backwards in school and everything. I got in trouble for it but it was worth it.
FIRST ALBUM HANDED DOWN TO YOU
My sister collected a lot of CDs and I was a big fan of Bone Thugs and Harmony. The song Crossroads was such a big hit that I had to hear more of their music. She gave me that CD and I played it religiously trying to figure out what in the world they were saying.
FIRST BREAK-UP ALBUM
Not so much as an album but just a whole lot of break up music helped me get through my first break up. When she broke up with me I went to my car and the first song that played on the radio was Puddle of Mud She Fucking Hates Me. After that I switched to the Hip Hop station and Ushers Let it Burn started playing. Then once more I switched to the old school station and The Spinners It’s A Shame started playing. I went and got those albums after.
GUILTY PLEASURE ALBUM
My most recent guilty pleasure album would have to be LMFAOs new album. Their single Everyday Im Shuffling is just to damn catchy. That song plays at any club or party and people go crazy. Its so cheesy that its awesome.
FAVOURITE AUSSIE ALBUM
I just recently got turned on to the band Dangerous. I picked their single as the single of the month in the UK. I’ve been rocking out to those guys. I like the sound.
ALBUM YOU WISH YOU MADE
Tupac’s Greatest Hits would be the album I wish I made. All of those songs are classic. Just to be able to create music that can touch peoples hearts and last forever would be such a great accomplishment. That album has all of the songs from all of his albums that mean a lot to me.
ALBUM YOU ONCE LOVED
At The Drive In Relationship of Command. Such a sick Album. Its so cool in so many ways. I kept it on repeat so much that I have listened to different aspects of every part of it. I possibly played it way to much, but now that I’m writing this I might have to put in rotation again.
LAST ALBUM YOU BOUGHT
Salem was the last album I bought. They are band in the UK with a very cool sound that’s reminiscent of the DJ screw sound I grew up on in Houston. It is rocked out but has a real scary mood to it. I heard it playing in the record store, asked the employee who it was and bought it on the spot.
YOUR ALBUM – BIRTH, SCHOOL, WORK, DEATH
My album is the shit. I love it. Its my brain pulled out of my head and placed to record. Its inspirational music to motivate you to get up and create change. its music to make you just get off your ass and do something.
THE ONE SONG THAT BEST DEFINES BIRTH, SCHOOL, WORK, DEATH
The one song that best defines my album would be Sleeping Giants. That is the premise of my whole mission, for us as a whole to wake up the sleeping giant inside of us and realize how great we are.
