FL's August Playlist

On the August FL Playlist we gush about Sydney-via-Blue Mountains band March Of The Real Fly; psychedelic garage upstarts King Gizzard and The Lizard Wizard, Brisbane pop sextet Founds and Melbourne duo Slow Chase.

If you want to know who we were babbling about on previous Playlists, you can check them out right here.

March Of The Real Fly

The Blue Mountains have a strong history of producing bands worth taking notice of; from Cloud Control to Belles Will Ring, the hills have proved to be a veritable breeding ground for successful indie bands. This bodes well for Blue Mountains four-piece March Of The Real Fly, who have just recently reared their heads on the Sydney scene making an early mark with their raucous lo-fi punk tunes.

In their short life the band has already released one EP – Live at the Dungeon (apparently recorded for a mere $2) and are busy working on another. Their most recent single Mystery ( To You) is a bare-bones funky garage tune, that tips its hat to Daniel Johnston’s shaky vocals and minimal song-writing.

Describing themselves as “fuzzed out indie/punk/pop/folk” Real Fly have proved that they are a force to be reckoned with live, playing a handful of riotous shows about town. You can catch them at The Vic in Melbourne on Friday 26th August and for more tour dates keep an eye on their Facebook page.
