Golonka play the Promethean as part of the Coopers Alive SA Live Music Showcase. Accordian maestro, Sen Bednikov talks to FasterLouder.
What’s the latest goings for the band? “Just settling in, we have a new-ish lineup, Belinda has just joined us recently on fiddle and we’re trying to consolidate our repertoire to make the most of all our strengths, I guess. And then maybe bandcamp somewhere far away before we make a start on recording with this new lineup.”
What does it mean for your band to be playing the Coopers Alive SA Live Music Showcase? “Just a bit of fun for us to share a night with the two other cool bands and make an evening of it. We wouldn’t have done it if it were just any other crap mainstream band.”

What can punters expect from your set on the night? “We’re not sure what to expect from out set on the night. That depends on the punters.”
Any surprises? “Um…..no.”
What are the plans for the band for the remainder of the year? “Well the bass player is trying to give up smoking, but I’d say fat chance, with 5 out of 5 members reasonably strong smokers and drinkers of fine coffee, it’s extremely hard. Musically, we’re working on refining a couple of offbeat rhythms we’ve been playing with and maybe finishing off a few new pieces. We tend to write in spurts, but because the writing comes from all within the band, it kinda works out, sort of….”
