COOPERS ALIVE 2009: Wintermild
Mon 19th Oct, 2009 in Features
Wintermild will play the Jade Monkey as part of the Coopers Alive SA Live Music Showcase. Bassist Matt Johnson chats to FasterLouder.
What’s the latest goings for the band? “Wintermild have been frantically finishing artwork and pushing to get our debut ep ready before the Coopers Alive Showcase. I can now officially announce that its is back in our hot little hands and will be available on the night. Last Friday night (16th Oct) we supported Claire Bowditch in the lush surrounds of the Adelaide Zoo.”
What does it mean for your band to be playing the Coopers Alive SA Live Music Showcase? “Playing the Coopers Showcase is a great opportunity for us to get our music out there, both live on the night and also hopefully in it’s new physical form into people’s collections.”
Do you approach this special event any differently to a normal gig? “Approaching this gig I think we are treating it fairly well the same as other shows in terms of the band’s preparation. I think it is in everyone’s mind that there may be industry types in the crowd but I don’t think that should change our approach too much.”
What can punters expect from your set on the night? “On the night, punters can expect to see three great bands showing off their wares in one of Adelaides finest venues. Wintermild will deliver a laid back, indie-pop set full of heart-on-your-sleeve ballads and quirky observation on day to day life.”
What are the plans for the band for the remainder of the
year? “For the rest of the year wintermild plan to play a handful of shows pushing the ep, and begin work on a follow up release…making sure we leave plenty of time to enjoy the warmer weather!”
