COOPERS ALIVE 2009: Bing Goesto Monaco

Bing Goes to Monaco will be part of the Coopers Alive SA Live Music Showcase lineup at the Jade Monkey. Singer and keyboardist Anny “Bing” Duff chats to FasterLouder.

What’s the latest goings for the band? “Lots and lots of gigs with some awesome bands,Bluejuice, the Jezebels, John Steel Singers, No Through Road and coming up Wagons and Crayon Fields! All that with a new drummer which we are loving!”

What does it mean for your band to be playing the Coopers Alive SA Live Music Showcase? “It means so much to play a local festival especially with the cream of the genre crops, we’re really chuffed and excited.”

Do you approach this special event any differently to a normal gig?
“We have put a lot more thought into this one, I have made video projections for the night to turn the jade monkey into a virtual forest so it should be a fantastical night. Working so closely with both Wintermild and Aviator Lane has been awesome they are all fantastic boys. You can grab a free promotional cd featuring a song from each band from the Big Stars too, hows that for forethought!”

Is there any extra pressure knowing that industry types might be sussing you out? “To be honest, we have been thrown in the deep end so often lately that i think we’ll just take the night as it comes. Its exciting to think that some cool people might be having a listen but one would hope they play every gig as if they might get an awesome opportunity. And I’m pretty sure we’re labeled the most nervous/shy band in Adelaide anyway!”

What can punters expect from your set on the night? “Some great (hopefully) Video art, a smoke machine, some pretty songs and hopefully not too many dad jokes!”

Any surprises? “Yes.”

What are the plans for the band for the remainder of the
year? “We would love to record a little before Freya and I travel at the end of the year. Would be great to have a break to write some new songs but the plan is to keep having fun.”

Bing Goes to Monaco play the Jade Monkey on Friday October 23 along with Aviator Lane and Wintermild. Tickets are $10 at the door from 8pm.
