While The Presets may have cleaned up at The ARIA Awards, their labelmates Cut Copy received just as much critical acclaim both at home and abroad. Their sophomore album In Ghost Colours hit the shelves early in – œ07 and shot straight to #1 on the charts. After that, with the exception of a spot on the V Festival lineup and an extensive tour around across country in June, it was up, up and away for Cut Copy as they took In Ghost Colours to the world.

“A lot of critics have really gotten into it, and a couple of influential music sites have given it a good thumbs up, so that’s really helped us gain a whole new fan base internationally,” vocalist Dan Whitford told FL late last year. “I think we’d always just hoped people would feel the same way about the record that we did. We didn’t write it hoping to sell a million copies, but it was something we were quite excited by yourselves, and felt that for us it was something quite different and unique. So it’s quite reassuring to get a really good response from audiences and critics.”

Now, it’s time for Cut Copy to come home for the summer. The band has a highly coveted slot on the festival favourite that is the annual Big Day Out tour, as well as a prized selection of solo shows and DJ gigs during the tour. FL’s Angus Paterson talks to Dan Whitford ahead of the tour kicking off later this month.
