Repeat Offender have recently won a competition to support Panic At The Disco on the Brisbane leg of their Australian tour. Coupled with an already strong hometown following it seems the band are set for big things. FL sat down with their guitarist, Stephen Childs, to see what the guys have to say about pending world domination.
How excited are you about playing with Panic At The Disco?
The whole band is definitely wearing their excited pants around Brisbane at the moment. We are so use to the bands from O.S. playing at the Tivoli or the Convention Centre so when we found out this was an Entertainment Centre gig we were blown away…whilst shitting ourselves.
What had you guys been up to lately prior to the big win?
The band bought an island off the coast of Mexico at the start of the year so We have just been over there hanging out with copious amounts of models and P. Diddy lookalikes. O.k. I may have made that up but we have been having lots of fun up Norths playing shows with our mates Melodyssey. We have really spent 90 percent of this year Recording Demo’s so if you want to hear what we have been working on there are loads of new tracks on our MySpace.
Brisbane-ites are very loyal and passionate about their local bands – what is this all about?
I think it would be the same with any city. When you have been going to see a band since they were playing at open mic nights at the local Irish pub you end up feeling like you are one of the band members.
I hear you once did a duet with Patience from the Grates at a birthday party – do tell?
HA! I believe it was more her doing the singing while I did a contemporary dance piece. Honestly I don’t even remember that happening but by the looks of the pictures it was a lot of fun.
What is next for the band – world domination?
I am not sure exactly how we would dominate the world…but it doesn’t sound incredibly pleasurable for my privates. Really I think we just want to get an album out there. We have a little dream to head up to a house on the water up north with our own gear and record it ourselves. I hope that doesn’t stay a dream for long though.
