Local hip-hop outfit Vents are making their debut at the Big Day Out, which I’m sure will be a huge experience for Joe and side kick Trials as he explains further.

What’s the feeling amongst the band in the lead up to the Big Day Out? “Stoked we got asked and excited to play the show,” Joe eagerly replied. “Keen to check out the whole day as I haven’t been to a Big Day Out since I snuck in when I was about 15.”

With so many other bands doing their thing, how do you play to win over punters on the day? “Honestly,” Joe paused. “We have never really had a problem getting crowds jumping, even if it’s just the first couple rows. We have a pretty dedicated (if small) fan base. We never take ourselves too seriously either”.

What’s the best part of being a band playing the SA leg of the Big Day Out? “No early flights! No fucking airports!”

What bands are on your ‘must see’ list? “Billy Bragg for sure!”

How do you plan to unwind/celebrate after your set? “Unwinding is not an option,” Joe stated. “Binge drinking and chain smoking is usually the remedy.”

Do you have a good story or memory from a previous Big Day Out experience? “Went there after school one night,” Joe confessed. “Knew some skaters who reckoned they were gonna sneak in through the sewers and had a map. Turned out to be bullshit. Found some hippies working there snuck us in their Kingswood. Saw the Prodigy and they were pretty wicked live.”
