Adelaide’s sinfully lusty, primo rock‘n’roll act King Daddy is back in action and brandishing its debut album Evil Love. Lead by Nazz on vocals, Rich Gohl on guitars, Pange on drums and the rock star look alike by way of Danielle Schriever on bass makes for a formidable line up. All I can say is check ‘em out at the Big Day Out.
What’s the feeling amongst the band in the lead up to the Big Day Out? “We are looking forward to unleashing some of our brand of rock ‘n roll to all those young kiddies out there who haven’t seen us,” Danielle promoted. “It only took 11 years to get on that bill, but I guess they were waiting for us to get our asses into gear & bring out a record!”
With so many other bands doing their thing, how do you play to win over punters on the day? “By bringing out our hot all nude King daddy dancers of course,” Danielle remarked. “Ha, hopefully the music will speak for itself and people will gravitate to those jungle drums, hot wired guitar licks, and a singer (Nazz) who ain’t shy in demanding attention. But if any hot nude dancers male or female wish to come and shake it on stage were up for it!”
What’s the best part of being a band playing the SA leg of the Big Day Out? “Its close to home, and its great exposure, especially since we have a new record out.”
What bands are on your ‘must see’ list? There are a few local bands I wanna see,” Danielle indicated. “Apart from that not much really I am sad to say.”
How do you plan to unwind/celebrate after your set? “Consume the rest of the rider,” Danielle anticipated. “And anyone else’s who have left it behind. Then just drink as many musos under the table till the wee hours of the mornin’ & hook up with those crazy hot all nude king daddy dancers!”
Do you have a good story or memory from a previous Big Day Out experience? “I was back stage at the 2000 big day out on a guest ticket from a friend’s band and was mistaken for the chick from Atari Teenage Riot by Joe Strummers roadie (who was a little wasted) he told me that i was a great singer but my back up singers were shite,” Danielle mentioned. “He then shared his jazz tobacco with me. Then went to the after party at the Hilton with trashed rock star carnage all over the lovely couches. The stand out most trashed rock star was the front man from Primal Scream, who had not noticed the sun had gone down some time ago and was wearing his sunnies while two minders held him upright. And I thought I was drunker than I’d ever been!”
Catch King Daddy on the V Energy Local Produce Stage from 7.10pm to 7.50pm.
