New Season Black are a band from Adelaide Australia formed in late 2006. NSB hit the ground running, their debut show being Adelaide’s first Myspace Secret Show, featuring 28 Days and Behind Crimson Eyes. Gaining attention throughout the local scene during 2007, they have also landed supports with Irrelevant, The Amity Affliction and The Hot Lies to name a few. Now it’s their time to shine on the big stage and impress the masses at the Big Day Out. Their drummer Carradean is pumped for the occasion.

What’s the feeling amongst the band in the lead up to the Big Day Out? “We’re all pretty excited and were looking forward to how fun its going to be.”

With so many other bands doing their thing, how do you play to win over punters on the day? “Basically playing as tight as we can whilst still giving as much energy as we can,” Carradean indicated. “There will be a lot of throwing the guitars around and heaps of jumping around.”

What’s the best part of being a band playing the SA leg of the Big Day Out? “Getting the chance to play at this great festival in front of our local crowd,” Carradean thought. “Also getting to meet a lot of our favourite bands will be great as well.”

What bands are on your ‘must see’ list? “Definitely Enter Shikari (which we just found out our channel V interview is on the exact same time. We love the band so much were going to Sydney to make sure we see them),” Carradean talked up. “Also on the list is Brand New and Rage Against The Machine, which goes without saying.”

How do you plan to unwind/celebrate after your set? “Not too sure yet,” Carradean pondered. “But I’m sure there will be plenty of unwinding/celebrating going on.”

Do you have a good story or memory from a previous BDO experience? “So many good memories, ha,” Carradean reflected. “One thing I’ve always thought is ‘I hope I can play the Big Day Out one day.’ So this Big Day Out will be a one of the best!”
