STREAMING AUDIO INTERVIEW

If you’ve ever felt that the seemingly disparate genres of trance and heavy metal had as much in common as chalk and cheese, fast rising UK four-piece Enter Shikari are here to prove otherwise. The London band, who’ve attained fever pitch in the hype machine off the back of their 2007 debut album ‘Take To The Skies’, are becoming known worldwide for the breakneck energy of their live shows. It’s no surprise to Rory, the band’s guitarist, as he tells FasterLouder that the live arena was where the band originally made their name, selling out 2,000 capacity venues in London before they’d even inked their record deal.

From all reports the crowd at your average Enter Shikari gig will be an interesting bunch. Expect a mish-mash of hardcore trance fans, nu rave club kids and gnarled metal folk, all interspersed with sweaty teens clutching glow-stix, excitedly moshing in between reaching their hands to the sky as the arpeggiated breakdown of any one of their songs rings through the speaker stacks. It’s not something that can be easily described in words, it’s something you have to see and experience for yourself. Therefore the chaos that’ll no doubt be wreaked on their impending Big Day Out tour should prove to be the perfect introduction to the band that has to be seen to be believed.
