WALRUS is an Australian rock band.
WALRUS is MARK TAYLOR (drums), DAN COLLINS (bass, vocals), JOEL McGRATH (guitar, vocals) and ROLAND KAY-SMITH (guitar, vocals): all in their early twenties and veterans of the Australian music scene.
WALRUS’ first EP, the self-titled Walrus was produced and distributed by the band in 2005, the second, The End of the Earth Show, was distributed through Shock Records in 2007, and now the new single Funky Monkey/Marilyn Monroe is being distributed through the bands own label; FuzzTone. All three releases have received critical acclaim and national airplay.
The boys of WALRUS have been described by Drum Media as ‘The true bastard children of Sydney’s emaciated (non-indie) rock scene : they’re hungry, mean and guarding a big sack of sharp retro-rock riffs.’
‘You can tell these guys would be fantastic live’, JJJ’s Richard Kingsmill
‘Indie Album of the Week’, ‘You can’t help but hope that the real Armageddon sounds as good as this.’ The Brag, 12/02/07
‘Great riffs, adventure and most importantly swagger.’ Mel In The Morning, Triple J Unearthed
