THE STAGGERLEES
The fiery riffing of AC/DC, the slick swagger of The Faces and Rod Stewart, the punch and song writing panache of the Foo Fighters… Meet The Staggerlees – anarchic but inspired, fresh but prodigious, an exclusive fusion of swinging and sleazing garage rock and grunge glamorama.
This five-piece features a line-up of dynamic and veteran musicians. Rhythm guitarist and principal song writer Sam C previously hailed from alt-pop outfit Stella One Eleven and has toured Australia extensively. He pens striking melodic tunes that convey a mesmeric and accessible intensity.
Bass guitarist Anthony the Colonel Keena is the in-house sound engineer at The Marquee. He has toured with Jerk and Tourettes and played in stoner-rock band Powerhead. His distinctive bottom-end rumble adds a smouldering depth to The Staggerlees. Drummer Senator ROKX first tamed the kit in seminal industrial-hardcore collective Public Hanging, and his bash-loud and groove orientated style provides heavy driving propulsion.
Lead guitarist Zach Rembrandt is a future guitar hero-in-waiting. Inspired by Kiss and The Dead Boys, he is a shreader with class and possesses an innate sense of melody. Vocalist Brendan S Lee is a natural talent who impressed after a chance meeting. Influenced by contemporary metal and punk, his vocal style has been linked to AFI and Trent Reznor.
Ultimately The Staggerlees are engaging, sincere and charming because they explore and extol experiences and emotions that define them. The songs sit like soundtracks to their lives, creative extensions of the heartbreaks, the wild nights, the existential crises. Nothing is contrived, nothing is disingenuous.
The Staggerlees are primed to take on the world – they have the songs, the edge and the energy.
