Here it is – Zontox is the One Man Metal Project founded by Tim Spriggs. Born on November 7th 1983 in the small town of Stawell, Australia. While raised in the even smaller town of Halls Gap this half Filipino/Australian has over 10 years of musical experience in writing, performing and producing his and other peoples music. Drawing from such influences as Machine Head, Meshuggah, Pantera, Deftones, Down and The Haunted, Tim has taken what once was just a hobby and is in the midst of turning it into a career. What does ZONTOX mean? As Tim puts it “The Name itself has no origin, it was just a completely random word I put together. Some bands base their sound around their name, I want the music to give the word a meaning”. With the success of the ZONTOX demo, widespread radio airplay and over 120,000 views on Myspace already, Tim is gearing up for the release his debut album in 2009, followed by a tour and the release of another record under his self-titled rock project. What can you ex pect from the ZONTOX album? Tim says “basically I’m going to take every band that has ever influenced me, mix them together in a pot, add my own little spice while trying to improve on whats been done!”. What truth these words hold, you’ll just have to wait and see!
