Summon together the psychedelic blues and shamanic lyrical mysticism of The Doors, capture the ferocious party groove of The Cat Empire, incarcerate the 60’s pop vocal charm of Nancy Sinatra, and lock all the aforementioned in a traveling gypsy caravan, with a fresh supply of French wine and bohemian absinthe in tow. Nine months later you have their love child product – The Traveling So-and-So’s.

The Traveling So-and-So’s were formed in the European summer of 2007 whilst its teenage members were backpacking through the continent’s most intriguing, enticing and sometimes truly weird countries. Blending indie folk rock with elements of blues, jazz, and psychedelic groove, The Traveling So & So’s unpredictable and energetic live sets are marked by blaring trumpet, smoking hot sax, strapping guitar, simmering vocals and stirring beats.

“The unmistakable rhythm and beat of the Traveling So-&-So’s is a trip to a crowded European coffee house, smoky cellar in Casablanca or a beachside Jamaican bar” (Josh Bavas)

Having recently been invited to attend the QMusic emerging artists industry workshops on a last minute ‘wild card’ entry following an unforgettable performance as part of the Valley Markets Busking Competition, and offered a place on the lineup of Brisbane City Romp, 2high Festival, Icon Creative Summit Festival and Stockland Festival Lakeside, it is set to be an exciting end of year for The Traveling So & So’s as they continue to secure their reputation as one of the more promising up-and-coming acts the Brisbane local scene has to offer.

The So & So’s regularly gig throughout Brisbane & Gold Coast at popular venues such as Rics Bar, Swinging Safari, The Globe, The Step Inn, UQ Guild Bar, The Red Room, The Pavilion (RIP), Lock’n’Load, The Jubilee and The Tongue & Groove, and have enjoyed standout performances on both the Brunswick St Mall Stage in Fortitude Valley, and the Queen St Mall and Reddacliff Place stages in Brisbane’s CBD.

Hey, I heard you guys at the valley markets and I really enjoyed it. I was just wondering if you only have the saxophone sometimes, because these songs don't seem to have any sax, and I thought it sounded amazing on the street today!
