‘The Swindlers’ is a band bred on good music, good wine and good times. The idea for The Swindlers had its gestation during an all night lock-in at the bar of our favourite ex-Carlton footballer, Percy Jones, where Liam and Jim decided to start a band. The name was an obvious one as amongst other things, Liam and Jim shared a love of swindling. In fact, at the time, they were Swindling the booze of poor Percy Jones. But alas, for a long time, the Swindlers were nothing more than a grand idea. Apart from regular jams with a revolving door of musicians, The Swindler’s looked doomed to never be anything more than a dream. The final incarnation of The Swindlers see’s the double-kick action of Phil Tucker, the occasionally eastern inspired lead of Tom Westmore, and the rasping vocals of Mark Berry. With influences ranging from Velvet Underground, to Pavement, to the Kinks to contemporary bands such as The Libertines and Kings of Leon, the Swindlers deliver their own brand of Rock and Roll. The Swindlers will be heading into the studio this June to begin recording their first EP. So stay tuned for songs to be posted.
