The Strains is the brain child of singer songwriter Payolla, as both a singer/guitarist and prolific songwriter. Spending many years in front of pub crowds with his trusty bass player George Barra, the pair have captivated their audiences with energy, honesty and humor.
In 2006 they were joined by international drummer Saki and a year later multi-instrumentalist Ashley Delorezo joined the band. This culminated in the 5 song e.p ‘War and Beats’ and the bands signing to ‘Time Again Records’. The e.p received acclaim on many independent radio stations within Australia.
Playing many gigs in pubs, clubs and restaurants around Melbourne the band honed their sound which blends many styles of folk such as roots, country and bluegrass .
Bringing together as many cultures as there are members, gives the band a diverse musical background with which to work and work they have.
Spending the last 5 months in the studio recording their self produced full album, with a bluegrass offering, is named ‘Little Villiage’..
