Ambitious, exciting, and always looking for new answers to the eternal questions of life, love and all thats in-between, the Seabellies are unique. Swapping instruments throughout the set, the bands onstage presence is akin to bands like Architecture in Helsinki, Broken Social Scene and the Go! Team those who refuse to be boxed into the traditions of four beat rocknroll.
Formed in mid-late 2005, the Seabellies have built upon the already-considerable reputation of their frontman, Newcastle singer/songwriter Trent Grenell. Joining him on stage is younger brother Kyle, along with Antony Martin on piano and keyboard, and guitarist and bassist Eddie Garven. The most recent additions to the line-up are Sean Kelleher on drums and Steph Setz, rounding out the band by taking on the toys; metallophone, melodica and keys as well as the viola and anything else the band can find to add into the mix of sounds!
The Seabellies may not have been around for long, but in a short time they have already established themselves within the Newcastle and Sydney music scenes, playing at venues such as The Hopetoun Hotel, The Annandale Hotel, The Marquee, Bar On The Hill and Northern Star Hotel. The ‘Bellies have also supported artists such as Something For Kate, Augie March, Evermore, Dan Kelly And The Alpha Males, The Devoted Few Shane Nicholson, Expatriate, The Fyreflyes, Peregrine and Andy Clockwise.
In 2006 the ‘bellies featured in lineups such as the Strikeback Festival, which included such artists as The Sleepy Jackson, Faker, Wolf and Cub, The Devoted Few, Josh Pyke, Bodyjar… and more recently The Peats Ridge Festival featuring artists such as Bluebottle Kiss, iOTA, Sarah McLeod, Bertie Blackman, The Black Seeds, Pivot….
To add to that The Seabellies have recently taken out the Newcastle University Band Competition and The Newcastle Music Week Industry Showcase Competition. Amongst this the ‘bellies found time to record an EP (due for release early 2007) with Chris Townend (Augie March, Art Of Fighting, The Valentinos, Portishead) and assistant engineers Simon Berkfinger and Bourke Reid from Gerling. The past year was a great one for The Seabellies, so please, immerse yourselves in our submerged little world, and you shall never swim alone.

Seems like the band owners have been pretty boring here, you should get in contact with them and find out why it's empty!
