With their latest release ‘Destroy The Robots‘ released May 2006, selling out of its first two pressings, becoming the #1 selling Cd in some stores. Orchestral Sci-Fi Art Rockers The Red Paintings, have headed off on a three part theatrical tour in support of the topics and issues on their new release. The first tour labelled “The Uprising Of The Robots” has seen the band successfully march thru major cities and towns to an audience of thousands, unannounced in large tin robots and causing quite a stir, receiving positive reviews across the country with all major street press, tv, radio and magazines, including ‘Rolling Stone’ with the band coming in as #1 editors choice June issue 2006, ‘Blunt magazine’ and Triple J who have added the bands new track “Pickles” to high rotation as well as ‘Destroy The Robots’ and ‘It Is As it Was’ hitting the airways and conducted live to air interviews no less than twice in the first two weeks of release alongside a very personal ‘home & hosed’ interview with Caroline Tran. ‘The Robot Marches’ also headlining triple J news. The highly anticipated 2nd part of the Robot Trilogy tour ‘Destroy The Robots’ dates have been announced and will take place in July/August the first show sees TRP play main support for Scottish Art Rockers ‘Mogwai’, coming on the heels of a very successful ‘Great Escape Festival’ debut along side acts such as Silverchair, Sigur Ros & The Black Keys . Now with the second tour from the tilogy labeled "Destroy The Robots" completed, the band toured the country each night allowing fans to paint on huge canvases and also human canvases and displaying large crosses with crucified Androids on them, Rosie Beaton also spending the day with Trash Mcsweeney for a very personal and up close interview for Triple J & the band also peforming the last Robot March at Parliament House (Canberra) destroying their robots. Each tour on the Trilogy will contain new songs and a stage show created for that tour only.. ‘Pickles’ the first release single off ‘Destroy The Robots’ has made its Aria debut a #86 and Air Chart debut at #3, the filmclip screening on music channels nationwide. In Sept 06 the band will be hitting the road as main support for The Dresden Dolls Australian & New Zealand SOLD OUT tour. The circus hits Brisbane, Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide & Perth. After this the band will be heading to America for a three week tour with The Dresden Dolls in October and London, Uk in November.
The Red Paintings last EP ‘Walls’ came on the heels of a busy 2003/05. The band playing Livid 2003 (Brisbane) and Fuse Festival (Adelaide) In 2004 TRP embarked on a National Tour. Brisbane’s Valley Fiesta saw the second National headling tour begin to support the new release of the single ‘Rain’. Both the ‘Rain’ single and film clip received considerable rotation on both radio & TV stations nationally and stayed in the AIR CHARTS for over 15 weeks. Co-currently the band appeared on the covers of local music magazines across Australia. In 2005 the band released ‘Virgin Mary Tour album’, ‘Your Tears are Warnings Signs’ which was the most sold album for 6 weeks in Brisbane city stores without any distribution or label support. In 2005 the band graced the Green Stage in front of an audience of thousands at ‘The Big Day Out’ Festival Australia, toured China and Hong Kong for the ‘Your Tears Are Warning Signs Acoustic Tour’, before returning in March to tour with New Zealand band ‘Evermore’.. In mid 2005 The Red Paintings embarked on the third headlining tour across Australia supporting the release of the new EP and 4th release ‘Walls’. ‘Walls’ hit the air ways across Triple J and was added to High Rotation and entered into the Net 50 at # 2 and remained in the top 3 for 15 weeks. To cap off this success, ‘Walls’ also came in at #2 most played Alternative track on Australian radio in July. The band returned in the second half of 2005 with the release of an amazing cover of the classic track ‘Mad World’ from the ‘Walls’ EP which hit rotation on stations including Nova, Triple M and Triple J. ‘Walls’ and ‘Mad World’ also being added to several compilations, including Triple J’s Home & Hosed 2005. The band in Sept/Oct/Nov headed off on a massive 50 date ‘Mad World’ tour this included a stop in at Triple J’s Melbourne studio’s in October for a live to air broadcast. They finished the year with 4 sold out shows including a Christmas Eve Tim Burton inspired theme show. The band have put together unique popular theme shows dedicated to well know artist and story tellers which include The Mark Ryden Inspired Mad World Show, Andy Warhol Show, Alice In Wonderland Show, The Red String Show, The Tim Burtons ‘Nightmare B4 Xmas’ Show & ‘The Robot Uprising’ Trilogy shows to-date.
