The Plastik Scene formed in 2001. The band has had its share of line-up shuffling. Past members include Katy Steele, now of Little Birdy, Travis Betts, who is currently playing guitar for Silkie Crusher and the Sex, long time bassist James Yates and vocalist and keyboardist Lucia Franchina who can be heard singing on the two tracks available here.

From the beginning The Plastik Scene focused on a sound blending electronic aspects and live, analogue instruments. This was accomplished by embracing the use of a PC sequencer on stage, allowing the band to explore a universe of different samples and synthesisers that quickly became a signature part of a recognisable and unique sound. One of the few bands in WA to embrace such a cross-over style at the time, the Plastik Scene became a regular part of electronic and pop-based events and an active force in the Semikazi Collective. The band can name-check line-ups featuring many of WA’s most prominent musical exports including The Sleepy Jackson, End of Fashion and Jebediah, and regular gigging over the years at Perth venues including Mojo’s, The Rosemount Hotel and the Hyde Park not to mention Artrage Festivals and a number of exceptionally enjoyable private functions…

Now hell bent on putting together a self-recorded release through the Sensei Sounds Label, the Plastik Scene has never ceased the evolution of a sound that is unlike any other, an epic-pop electronica that recalls Portishead, the Pixies and Bjork in the same breath as the Smashing Pumpkins and the Flaming Lips.
