Spencer Skehill and Steve McLennan, two self-confessed music nerds, met while working at a suburban department store. They began recording songs to a cheap 4-track with Spencer playing bass and Steve on electric guitar. Simon Little was recruited to play drums, and Steve’s sister Laura McLennan took over vocal duties. The band would jam in a backyard shed with no soundproofing and little ventilation, playing deafeningly loud, brash and clattering rock n’ roll.

In 2006, The Mad Feeling released a 6 track self-titled EP capturing their early garage pop sound. The CD opened doors for the band, who were soon playing to packed-out venues all over Melbourne. Although well received, they were dissatisfied and keen to add more layers to their sound. Drawing influence from Queens of the Stone Age and Meddle-era Pink Floyd, The Mad Feeling tempered their crunching volume with a warmly sedated delivery, wrapping Sabbath-heavy riffs around soulful melodies.

The Mad Feeling’s new double A-side single points to this shift. Leading with the high-tension riff rock of Insides Out, Laura’s vocal rises above swirling guitar lines and relentless, pounding drums. Your Warmth sheds the manic energy in favour of a lazier, desert blues feel, before building into an extended space-rock outro. Both songs were feature tracks on Triple J Unearthed, while Insides Out has also received airplay on Triple J and community radio stations around Melbourne.

2008 will see the band record their first full length album.

Boooring……

Seems like the band owners have been pretty boring here, you should get in contact with them and find out why it's empty!
