Surviving school, university, living together, and even a near-fatal car crash, the Gallant have been making music together for the past 8 years. Through a willingness to evolve, the Gallant has made a point of blending sound and genre in their songwriting, drawing influences from not only an upbringing of rock and pop punk, but also from dance, hip hop, and anything else that could be borrowed from the club scene.
The Gallant spent the first half of 2008 recording and producing their debut EP, which has been described as ‘electronically organic.’ The 7 track self-titled EP is a brash and quixotic blend of jagged post-punk guitar rock, subtle electro-beats and danceable melodic hooks. Combine this with front man James See’s soaring vocals that artfully skirt the edge of dissonance, and you can see why this debut has got heads turning and hearts pounding nation wide.
The band launched the EP in July to a sold out crowd at iconic Brisbane venue the Zoo. They then hit the road, taking their intense high energy live show South, playing to packed shows in Sydney, Canberra, and Melbourne.
In the 2 short years the band has been playing live up and down the East Coast, they have supported The Faint (USA), Birds of Tokyo, British India, Intercooler, The Dirty Secrets, and Small Mercies. They also played alongside the likes of Midnight Juggernauts and Bumblebeez at the 2007 Round & Round Festival. Most recently, the Gallant opened the inaugural Sounds of Spring festival, sharing the stage with acts like Grinspoon, Gyroscope, Dukes of Windsor, and many more.
After an already busy year the band are spending the next couple of months writing and recording new songs for what is bound to be a hectic 2009. Catch the Gallant early next year when they hit the road again to find out for yourself why they are quickly becoming one of Brisbane’s hottest bands.
“The Gallant stride onto the tiny stage at the stroke of mid-night… What follows is perhaps the single best show I have witnessed in the past year; polish, charisma, boundless energy, and the songs to match. An emphatically brilliant show.” – The Dwarf
“These four talented lads from Brisbane are making some of the most progressive and downright interesting rock songs we’ve heard for a while…” – MySpace Australia
“Turning heads with a future already showing incredible promise and a sound they can clearly call their own…” – Time Off Magazine.

Seems like the band owners have been pretty boring here, you should get in contact with them and find out why it's empty!
