It’s never easy to pinpoint exactly where The Capitals are coming from, but it’s abundantly clear where they’re not coming from. They’re a band apart from the nowhere music that’s everywhere, like a V1 rocket on a mission of sonic saviour, the co-ordinates unclear but the message universal.
Unlike the styles being designed and enforced, The Capitals actually create cause and effect. Their music and lyrics are almanacs of sensory input, scrap books of invention and ripped out pages of sporadic inspiration. A spaced-out pop manifesto blending with melodic anarchy, the sound of The Capitals demands judgement, opinion and interaction. You can’t be a passive bystander. Get What You Deserve, the bands signature track from the EP Offside reminder demands you to take action, enforces you to decide if you will get what you want or if you will get what you deserve. Shopping for the best deal on your soul in the Open hearted supermarket, The Capitals make no bones about the wide screen imagination required to have confessions via satellite. Nobody can blend music and meaning quite like The Capitals. It’s their second nature, sixth sense and its in their blood.
From 2005 to 2006, the six members of The Capitals came together at the end of divided roads, all meeting at a roundabout on the fate freeway. Having grown up in the same social circles, the coming together of The Capitals was as synchronistic as a sunrise, and it has not taken long for them to merge and become the living embodiment that is the sound of The Capitals. Take care nothing is safe from scrutiny anymore The Capitals have arrived and the state is under siege from the streets.
